The Sea View Trust, in collaboration with nasen Whole School SEND has a number of trained SEND Reviewers within its partnership.
What is a SEND Review?
A SEND Review is a supportive review of a school's provision for their SEND learners. It looks at policy, practice, data and stakeholder voice to identify strengths and areas for development to improve outcomes for learners with SEND. A SEND Review is a pivotal step for schools and Trusts wishing to address the first challenge identified in the recent SEND Green Paper, that outcomes for children and young people with SEN are poor.
Why commission a SEND Review?
- To improve the quality of provision for pupils with SEND.
- To increase attendance and reduce exclusions for pupils with SEND.
- To raise attainment and improve progress.
- To provide a fresh perspective on SEND provision from an experienced system leader.
How much does it cost?
A typical SEND Review takes 2/3 days and depending on the size of your school will involve 1 or 2 SEND Reviewers. This includes the preparatory work before going into school, the time needed to collect evidence during the school visit and the report writing and feedback that takes place after the review. The cost is £500 per day for the first SEND Reviewer and £350 per day for the second SEND Reviewer.

Testimonials
“A really productive day, with exactly the right balance of professional challenge and support in a process that we were genuinely part of and not ‘done to’. I would wholeheartedly recommend the SEND audit that acknowledges the good practice that exists but makes practical recommendations on how to further strengthen your provision” Andrew Williams, Headteacher of the Rhyddings
“The pre-audit documents really helped us to prepare thoroughly and consider all aspects of our provision. The auditors were extremely supportive throughout the day and offered us great tips and advice on how to improve the provision for our students. The final report gave us some really useful recommendations that we have implemented to improve the provision for our students.” Marcus Philpott Assistant Vice Principle of the Co-op Academy Leeds
“A professional, understanding and knowledgeable review that understood and appreciated our unique circumstances. We felt in safe hands all the way through the process that was done with us, and not to us.” Samantha Haydock, Science teacher of The Hollins
